Kim van der Veen
Co-FOUNDER
Kim van der Veen is the co-founder and lead designer of Burgeon Group, LLC, a Phoenix-based firm that creates interactive early-literacy installations exclusively for public libraries — with work in more than 700 libraries across North America. Before launching the firm in 2004, Kim founded the Children's Museum of Phoenix and held roles at the Phoenix Public Library, the City of Phoenix, and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. She has co-founded four nonprofits, rides her bike to work, and has never met a mobile she didn't like.
Doug van der Veen
Co-FOUNDER
Doug holds a B.S. from the University of Puget Sound and an M.A. from Carnegie Mellon University. His extensive teaching experience provides a foundation of Burgeon Group’s early learning expertise and he’s also very good with measuring things and power tools.
